Edmund Williamson Portraits

The last portraits you will see on the left of the hallway are of Hillyer Speed Lamkin and Carol Layton Parsons painted by Edmund Williamson, a popular local artist. A West Monroe native, Williamson had a passion for the arts from a young age. He studied painting at The University of Louisiana at Monroe and Louisiana Tech University. Williamson focused on local landscapes and figures, and various media. He designed and built the huge Dragonfly recently restored and returned to Forsythe Park, as well as the colorful, huge metal flowers that greet you at the entrance to Antique Alley in West Monroe. Lamkin was an author, best known for his novels such as Tiger in the Garden and The Easter Egg Hunt. He also wrote scripts for television and Broadway shows. He was a close friend of Carol Parsons’. His family owned The Bright-Easterling-Lamkin House now being restored by film producer Selina Lewis-Davidson into a cultural heritage center she calls “The Pink House.”
